This workshop aims to share experiences and best practice in facilitating and promoting cycle commuting in different workplaces. The target audience is decision makers, facility managers, and others at large institutions and retail and commercial areas in Cork.
The workshop will address the large, and sometimes surprising, benefits to institutions by catering for cycling. These benefits contrast with the enormous difficulties institutions face in providing parking for private vehicles. The workshop is intended to be participatory. Using its own complex, multisite campus and mix of new and legacy facilities as a example, UCC will share its own experience and evolving response to increasing rates of cycling in its large community. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to view a mix of cycling facilities at UCC. The potential of dockless bike sharing will also be presented. Breakout groups will allow participants to share their experiences at different workplaces.
